Meet Cassie
Hi, my name is Cassie Rieser and I am a Certified Professional Soil Scientist (CPSS) that specializes in vineyard management. I am a California transplant from Minnesota and fell in love with vineyards and soil science while studying in Toulouse, France. When returning to the states, I worked in vineyard management in Napa and Sonoma counties. For 6 years I managed all aspects of disease and pest monitoring and spray programs on over 800 acres and vineyard monitoring prior to making the decision to pursue a graduate degree in soil science.
While pursuing my master's degree, I continued to consult on vineyards which only deepened my appreciation for the strong link between vineyards and soil science (and of course Terroir!). I have over 10 years of vineyard management and consulting experience and I continue to love investigating the properties of soil as it relates to plant health. Ultimately, I love nerding out about soil and taking the time to teach people about how to make their site the ultimate vineyard property! I am based out of Grass Valley, California, but travel all over the state for soil investigations!
Along with my CPSS certification, I have my QAL and PCA license which allows me to make recommendations on pesticides and generate individualized spray programs if needed.
